Middlesbrough vs Coventry City match preview

The 2nd of two midweek Championship playoff semi-final 2nd legs is set to play out at the Riverside Stadium on Wednesday, May 17th.

The matchup in question will seeMiddlesbrough act as hosts, in a meeting with Coventry City.

Boro and Coventry, of course, are primed to enter this evening’s action with all still to play for, on the back of a hard-fought affair at the Ricoh Arena this past weekend.

A tense 90 minutes, which saw the visitors dominate possession but Coventry carve out twice as many shots, ultimately culminated in a goalless stalemate.

This came after the two sides were also inseparable on the final day of the league campaign, when Gustavo Hamer’s early opener was cancelled out by a decisive Cameron Archer equaliser.

All told, though, it is Coventry who find themselves in the superior form at present.

With Michael Carrick’s troops, on the whole, having proven themselves one of the Championship’s very best sides over the term’s 2nd-half, though, Wednesday’s Riverside clash looks an extremely difficult one to call.

Just who will ultimately emerge triumphant, to book a playoff finale showdown with Luton Town on Saturday, May 27th?

Owing to little more than home advantage, we at 101, just, are giving the edge to Middlesbrough.
