Urartu vs Zrinjski Mostar betting tips: Champions League first qualifying round first leg preview, predictions and odds

Urartu vs Zrinjski Mostar odds and betting statistics

Urartu vs Zrinjski Mostar match preview

Can Urartu end their extremely long wait for a win in UEFA competition?

Last year, the Proud Lions were crowned Armenian Premier League champions for only the second time, nine years after their maiden title.

However, on the continent, Urartu have only ever won a solitary tie, beating Locomotive Tbilisi 4-3 in the UEFA Cup 18 years ago.

Since then, the Armenian outfit have lost all 12 ties they’ve ever featured in, most-recently ousted by Maribor two seasons ago.

This includes defeats at the hands of two different Bosnian opponents, with this clash likely to go the same way for Dmitry Gunko’s team.

So, if HŠK Zrinjski Mostar can leave Yerevan with even a draw, they’ll be in the box-seat to advance.

12 months ago, Zrinjski reached a play-off round for the first time in their history, beating Tirana and Tobol en route, before narrowly missing out on a group stage debut, ousted by ŠK Slovan Bratislava on penalties.

That was in the Europa Conference League while, in this competition, the Bosnian champions have never won a tie, losing all seven, but that could change here.

If the Armenians have any chance of advancing, this first leg at Urartu Stadium feels must win.

Whoever does prevail will face the aforementioned Slovan Bratislava or Swift Hesperange in the Champions League second qualifying round.

The losers drop into the Europa Conference League second qualifying round, where the losers of Farul Constanța vs FC Sheriff Tiraspol await.
