Olimpija Ljubljana vs Galatasaray betting tips: Champions League third qualifying round first leg preview, predictions and odds

Olimpija Ljubljana vs Galatasaray odds and betting statistics

Olimpija Ljubljana vs Galatasaray match preview

Will Galatasaray remain on track a Champions League return?

In the previous round, the Turkish champions battled to victory over Žalgiris, drawing 2-2 in Vilnius before Dries Mertens’s stunning volley in İstanbul last Wednesday saw them advance.

Galatasaray have featured in the Champions League group stages on 16 occasions, although the most-recent of these came back in 2019.

Having spent big this summer, Okan Buruk’s team are under huge pressure to end that exile, with Wilfried Zaha amongst those set to make their debut for the club here.

In contrast, this European campaign has already been a rip-roaring success for Olimpija Ljubljana, having already ousted Valmiera and Ludogorets Razgrad in previous rounds.

The latter was a bit of an upset, achieved in dramatic circumstances, with Timi Max Elšnik bagging a 92nd minute winner, before Matevž Vidovšek saved a penalty in the 14th minute of injury time.

But, Olimpija are aiming to keep their Champions League dreams alive knowing, if they’re going to pull off a monumental shock here, this first leg at Stadion Stožice is surely must win.

The winners of this tie will take on Molde or Klaksvíkar Ítróttarfelag in the UEFA Champions League play-off round.

The losers drop into the UEFA Europa League play-offs, where they’ll face the winners of Qarabağ vs Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi.
