Freiburg are aiming to get their hopes of a Champions League finish back on track after playing against Bayern Munich twice within the past week in two completely contrasting results before a trip to Werder Bremen down in 11th.
Freiburg managed to beat Bayern in the DFB-Pokal quarter-finals last week and it now sets up a semi-finals battle with RB Leipzig in early May. They did, however, fall to a defeat to Thomas Tuchel’s side a week later in the Bundesliga.
Freiburg are now into fifth in the table and behind Leipzig in fourth by one point and are adrift of Union Berlin in third by four points with seven games left on the clock.
Werder Bremen, however, are down in 11th now after a winless run stretching back to early March that has seen them lose to Hoffenheim at home and draw with Mainz last weekend at home.
Bremen’s last victory in the league came in a 3-0 win over Bochum, as they’ve also lost to Augsburg and Bayer Leverkusen since then, as well as putting together another draw with Borussia Monchengladbach.
