Stuttgart vs Eintracht Frankfurt match preview

Who will be facing holders RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal Final on 3 June?

VfB Stuttgart are three-times winners of this competition, although their most-recent triumph was 25 years ago, defeating Energie Cottbus.

So far this season, die Schwaben have ousted Dynamo Dresden, Arminia Bielefeld, Paderborn and Nürnberg, so are making their first semi-final appearance since suffering defeat to Bayern in the 2013 final.

Die Roten actually come into this clash unbeaten in four matches, with Sebastian Hoeneß winning two and drawing two since taking over a month ago.

Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach, in which Tanguy Coulibaly converted a late penalty, lifted Stuttgart out of the relegation zone, above Bochum on goal difference.

With a trip to bottom of the table Hertha to come this forthcoming weekend, this’ll be a decisive week for Hoeneß’s team.

This season has been significantly tougher for Oliver Glasner’s team who are languishing in ninth in the Bundesliga.

Die Adler are without a win in nine, dating back to mid-February, following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Augsburg.

In the cup though, Frankfurt have so far seen off Magdeburg, Stuttgarter Kickers, Darmstadt and Union Berlin, the latter a bit of an upset.

They also won 3-1 when they last visited Mercedes-Benz Arena in September, and would certainly take a repeat of that scoreline.

This tie is tough to call, so who will have a DFB-Pokal Final to look forward to?
