Bayer Leverkusen are clinging on to sixth place in the Bundesliga this Friday night with a crucial game at home to Koln with the away side eyeing up a spot in the top half of the table this season.
Leverkusen drew 0-0 with Union Berlin last time out, and although not the worst result given their position in the table, it was two dropped points that now puts them back to four behind RB Leipzig in fifth.
Xabi Alonso’s side did defeat Leipzig two weeks back with goal from Adam Hlozek and Nadiem Amiri which moved the club back into the Europa Conference League spot.
Koln lost at home to Freiburg last weekend to end a run of four games without a defeat. This included two 3-1 wins over Augsburg and Hoffenheim, while drawing with Mainz and Borussia Monchengladbach.
The club have only won eight games so far this season and they now sit 10 behind the top eight and eight adrift of the top half of the Bundesliga.
