Augsburg will continue to fight to get into the top 10 ahead of the visit of Werder Bremen to the WWK Arena with the away side back in the win column after an excellent display at home to Bochum.
Bremen schooled the relegation-threatened side 3-0 in the game to keep them in the top 10 of the Bundesliga, just as another goal from Niclas Fullkrug kept up his fight for the top scorer award in the league. Niklas Schmidt and Marvin Ducksch also netted that day.
Fullkrug is now two goals clear of Vincenzo Grifo and Christopher Nkunku in the top scorer race, as the German has now scored 14 times in 31 games to tally a goals per 90 minutes ratio of 0.68. This is, however, much lower than the aforementioned top scorer contenders.
Augsburg were beaten 2-0 by Hertha Berlin last weekend to throw them back into the relegation mixture. They now sit only five clear of Hoffenheim in 16th and a loss here would no doubt cause great fear at the WWK Arena.
They did, however, defeat Hoffenheim two weeks back and also edged past Bayer Leverkusen at the start of the month to keep them in 13th and narrowly above the drop zone.
