Newcastle v Chelsea match preview

Newcastle host Chelsea on Sunday in a huge match in the fight for a place in the Champions League next season.

Going into the weekend the sides are level on both points and goal difference, with both teams in the required top five.

But with Nottingham Forest just two points behind, and Aston Villa three, the fight for a top-five finish could hinge on this game with just three matches of the Premier League season left.

Newcastle have won seven of the last 11 league meetings at home and have already got a 2-0 home win under their belt in the Carabao Cup.

Chelsea will hope that winning a place in the Conference League final will add some more confidence to their ranks.

Newcastle v Chelsea team news

Newcastle remain without long-term injured duo Lewis Hall and Jamaal Lascelles, whlie midfielder Joelinton is back in Brazil and not expected to play again this season.

Anthony Gordon came off the bench and impressed against Brighton last week and could return.

Chelsea were able to make plenty of changes for the second leg of their Conference League semi-final win over Djurgarden, with 16-year-old Reggie Walsh starting against the Swedes.

Enzo Maresca rested 10 players and still won but will revert to his usual first-teamers at Newcastle.
