Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner addresses Manchester United rumours

Oliver Glasner says he is enjoying working at Crystal Palace, although he admits to following rumours that continue to link him with Manchester United.

Glasner has done a remarkable job at Selhurst Park, leading them to the FA Cup last season and they currently sit in third place in the Premier League following Saturday’s 2-1 win over defending champions Liverpool.

Palace have not lost any of their last 18 games in all competitions and take on Dynamo Kiev in the Conference League on Thursday night.

His work in South London has not gone unnoticed and there has been speculation linking him with United, who continue to look a disorganised rabble under Ruben Amorim.

The 51-year-old, in conversation with the Austrian version of Kicker, was asked about the links to United but played a predictably straight bat.

He said: “I follow all the rumours – and nothing more – neutrally and totally relaxed. I put my focus on the daily work with my players and colleagues and try to enjoy this as much as possible.”

Eagles soar once again to see off Liverpool

Eddie Nketiah grabbed the injury-time winner as Palace beat Liverpool and Glasner felt it was the right result after another impressive display from the Eagles.

He added: “We always try to win every game right until the end, so we would not have been satisfied with a draw. Especially since a victory felt right for us, and therefore the joy after the winning goal was all the greater.”

It is that kind of mentality that is lacking at Old Trafford at the moment.

United went down 3-1 at Brentford on Saturday lunchtime with Amorim persisting with a 3-4-3 formation that appears ill-suited to the players at his disposal.

The Manchester Evening News reported this morning that United were willing to persist with Amorim but it seems inevitable the axe will fall before long.

The Portuguese has managed just nine wins from 33 Premier League games in charge, accumulating 34 points from a possible 99 since moving from Sporting Lisbon nearly a year ago.

Next up for United is a game with newly promoted Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday.
