Maresca lost for words as Palmer hails relentless Chelsea after Club World Cup triumph
The Blues stunned Paris Saint-Germain in the final to win the tournament.
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca was almost speechless after watching his side beat Paris Saint-Germain to win the Club World Cup.
The Blues stunned the European champions, winning 3-0 in New Jersey thanks to a brace from Cole Palmer and a Joao Pedro strike.
Not many gave the Premier League side a chance before the game, with PSG looking relentless in their form.
But from the first to the final minute, Chelsea deserved the win and will now pen the title of world champions for the next four years.
Speaking after the game, Maresca said: “I have no words for the players. They all deserve this and it’s a good moment.
“For me, we won the game in the first 10 minutes. We set the tempo and we were very good at pressing them. The conditions made it hard to keep going but the boys did well.
THEY DID IT! 💙@ChelseaFC lift the FIFA Club World Cup!

“Of course I am very excited [about the future] but I’m more excited that we have three weeks off.”
Cole Palmer was the player of the match, running the PSG defence ragged and pulling off two trademark finishes with his left foot.
The England international was full of praise for his manager and team-mates after they overcame the odds to win.
He added: “It’s a great feeling. Even better because everyone doubted us before the game, we knew that. To put a fight on like we did, it’s good.
“The gaffer put a great gameplan out. He knew where the space was going to be. He tried to free me up as much as possible and I just had to repay him and score some goals.
“He is building something special, something important. Everyone has talked a lot of sh*t about us all season but I feel like we are going in the right direction.”
Chelsea will now have three weeks off before returning ahead of the start of the Premier League campaign.
