Christian Eriksen bags first assists for Brentford as Bees secure second win on the bounce

Danish international star Christian Eriksen has broken his duck for new club Brentford today after the former Inter Milan, Tottenham, and Ajax Amsterdam creative midfielder bagged his first assist for Thomas Frank’s Bees.

Eriksen was given his second run out for his new club after making his full return to professional football in the wake of nearly losing his life due to a cardiac event at Euro2020 when Denmark took on Finland in Copenhagen.

The Danish star saw 38-minutes of action in his first appearance for Brentford when they lost 3-1 against in-form Newcastle United, but completed a full 90-minutes against Norwich last weekend in an influential display.

Ivan Toney at the double as Brentford make it two in a row

Key Brentford striker Ivan Toney continued his hot form in front of goal – and from the penalty spot – today after his brace secured all three points for the Bees in the capital against Sean Dyche’s relegation-threatened Burnley.

The result saw the Bees secure a 9-point cushion between them and the bottom three, with Toney now sitting on 11-goals this season in the Premier League as seven of those have come in his last five appearances.

Brentford now sits just 10-points away from the 40-point mark in a first season back in the top flight of English football in decades that at times has seen them impress supporters and neutrals alike. The addition of Christen Eriksen has already proven a masterstroke, and should they secure safety for next season, many curious eyes will be cast in the club’s direction regarding how they intend to build on their current project.
