Arsenal star ‘agrees’ deal to join Napoli

Arsenal & Napoli

One of the big decisions Arsene Wenger made before the FA Cup final against Chelsea last weekend was to leave Petr Cech on the Gunners bench while David Ospina started between the sticks.

On Monday morning, the topic of Arsenal’s goalies is back on the agenda after Italian paper Il Mattino claims a Gunners star has agreed terms to move to Napoli.

So what’s the story?

Polish international keeper Wojciech Szczesny has spent the year on loan at AS Roma, and the Arsenal stopper has impressed in Serie A.

Szczesny’s loan period is over at the end of the season, and a few weeks ago the goalie expressed a desire to return to the Emirates Stadium.

However, the latest update from Il Mattino is that Szczesny has “agreed” terms to move to Napoli.

The transfer story comes off the back of reports last week, that Pepe Reina has fallen out with the Napoli hierarchy after his wife was embarrassed at the club’s end of the year event.

27-year-old Szczesny is under contract with Arsenal until 2018.

It’s unclear how much Napoli will need to offer the Gunners to get the deal done.
