League leaders Napoli will head into their game at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium having eased into the knockout rounds of the Champions League with another excellent win which now seems them top of Serie A and their European group ahead of a game with Sassuolo.
Although Napoli will take all the plaudits heading into this game, in truth, Sassuolo have been surprising many in Italy this season too. The club have won three of their past five games recently, defeating Torino 1-0, Salernitana 5-0 and Hellas Verona 2-1 just this past weekend. Their only losses in this time came in 2-1 defeats to Inter Milan and Atalanta, which will read well for a Napoli side sitting above both those Serie A giants in the table.
Napoli, however, are still yet to lose a game this season after a stunning run of form sees them top of the table by three points above the champions AC Milan, with nine wins and only two draws. What’s more, by winning every game in their Champions League group too, they sit with 26 goals scored in Serie A and a magnificent 20 from only five games in Europe.
In truth, only Paris Saint-Germain are running them close in this statistical department across both competitions, and the Naples side are arguably the best side in Europe this season. They will once again be heavy favourites heading into this one after schooling Rangers 3-0 in midweek and beating Roma last weekend too.
