Betting prediction: Norwich 0-2 Everton

There is little to write home about when it comes to Norwich this season who have managed just two wins while still sitting in single digits when it comes to their goal return in the Premier League. Everton is well below where the club wants to be (15th) but their last win in the league (2-1 vs Arsenal) shows what they are capable of and should be able to net all three points on the road while avoiding outright freefall.

Result/Both Teams to Score: Everton/No (12/5 odds) - Though Everton may be far below the level of ambition the club has shown in recent years, they should still be able to get one over against a Norwich outfit that seems allergic to goals at the minute having scored just eight all season to date. The Canaries have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last six, so the odds are heavily in favor of the Toffees.

Wincast: Dominic Calvert-Lewin To Score First + Everton Full-Time Result (6/1 odds) - Perhaps a bit of a gamble given how much time DCL has missed this season, but against a woeful Norwich backline (44-goals allowed), Dominic Calvert-Lewin could announce his return with a goal in what should be an Everton win despite their recent poor form.

Norwich vs Everton: Match preview

It continues to surprise that Norwich is only three points from being able to temporarily climb out of the relegation zone given how poor they have been during the 2021-22 Premier League campaign. With just eight goals scored (20th in the league) and forty-four allowed (20th in the league) while currently sitting on a six-match losing run (eight without a win), Dean Smith has it all to do and more at Carrow Road this term.

Even more shocking is the fact that they have found the back of the net just once in their last eight league fixtures in the 1-1 draw away at Newcastle back on 30 November. But there was some semblance of hope when Smith first took the reigns from Daniel Farke after the former Aston Villa man led the Canaries to two wins and two draws in his first four matches in charge. Norwich is indeed sitting bottom and the data paints a picture of hopelessness, but their previous yet brief bright spot shows they are a better outfit than what the table shows.

The situation for Everton at Goodison Park is hardly that much better either if you are Rafa Benítez as the Toffees are currently languishing well below the level of an outfit that has spent in the manner in which they have in recent seasons in conjunction with the ambitious stadium project they are in the midst of undertaking.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin fully available once again, an uptick in the goal department would serve Everton well. Despite only featuring in the first four matches of the season, Calvert-Lewin's three goals in that period were enough to see him still sitting joint-second in the club's goal charts this season and just two behind the influential Demarai Gray. No other Everton player is as good in the air as the England striker either (5.3 aerials won/90minutes) and his ability to contribute on both sides of the ball both in the air and on the ground may be Benítez's ace in the hole if he is to guide the club up the ladder for the duration of the season.

Norwich team news vs Everton

Dean Smith will have five missing from the first-team squad to contend with as Lukas Rupp, Mathias Normann, Billy Gilmour, Christoph Zimmermann, and Andrew Omobamidele are all out through injury. Todd Cantwell may also not feature here after missing the clash with West Ham due to illness.

Apart from that, the former Aston Villa boss has no other concerns while also keeping hope that American international Josh Sargent is back. If so, he will likely slot straight into the matchday XI at Carrow Road.

Everton team news vs Norwich

The only three guaranteed absences for Rafa Benítez come by way of Alex Iwobi (AFCON), Gylfi Sigurdsson (continued suspension), and Tom Davies (injury). Both Vitaliy Mykolenko and Anwar El Ghazi are expected to be in the matchday squad, with Mykolenko likely to be given his full debut after Lucas Digne departed for Aston Villa.

Yerry Mina, Fabian Delph, Richarlison, and Jarrad Branthwaite are all back in training but it is unclear who, if any, will be selected. But key striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is expected to come back into the fold and lead the line.
