Brighton vs West Ham betting tips: Premier League preview, predictions & odds

The Irons fans will be hoping this will be their time to finally secure a Premier League victory against Brighton. The Seagulls have the upper hand in the head to head, with three wins and nine draws from the twelve encounters in the Premier League.

Each of the last six matches in this head to head have all ended in a stalemate. This includes West Ham’s last trip down to Brighton in May 2021 as well as the reverse fixture between them back in December, both of which finished with the same 1-1 scoreline. We see little separating these two sides once again. Therefore, 101 Great Goals' prediction for this match is Brighton 1 - 1 West Ham and is available at odds of 6.5/1.

Alternatively, you can bet on any Brighton win at 2.5/1 against West Ham at home on Sunday.

Or, back any away win for West Ham at 2.75/1 here at the Falmer Stadium.

You can find odds of 3.45/1 for any draw between Brighton and West Ham on Sunday.

Match preview

Brighton & Hove Albion welcome West Ham to the Falmer Stadium on Sunday for this final-day Premier League match of the 2021/22 season.

The Seagulls have little to play for on the final day of the Premier League season. However, each Premier League place is worth an estimated £2.2m in prize money. Brighton, who are currently 10th in the table, could finish as high as eighth and as low as fourteenth depending on how results elsewhere go on the final day of the season. That means a swing in over £13m for the club, which equates to 10% of their yearly turnover; their turnover was £132.9m in the last published accounts.

Players are also playing for their future with decisions being made in the summer on new contracts, new signings and players to be sold. This means while European football and relegation aren’t in consideration there should be plenty at stake to motivate one last big performance from the guys on the pitch.

For West Ham though, the stakes are much bigger. A place in the UEFA Europa Conference League is assured with the club unable to finish any lower than seventh place. However, due to their massive +10 goal difference over Manchester United, a win here coupled with United failing to win at Crystal Palace would see the Hammers leapfrog United into sixth place.

West Ham have just enjoyed their best season in Europe since their European Cup Winners' Cup win in 1965 and runners-up place in 1976. A return to the UEFA Europa League where they got within touching distance of the final this year before losing in the semi-final to eventual winners Eintracht Frankfurt would be welcomed.

Before they can think of any of that though, they first need to beat a team they have never beaten in the top flight of English football. Records exist to be broken though!

Neal Maupay Goalscorer - Maupay (pictured above) was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw at Leeds last Sunday. He was seen storming down the tunnel ten minutes from full time when Brighton’s third substitution was made and it was clear he wouldn’t be seeing any pitch time at Elland Road. However, the Frenchman was the scorer of the last-minute equaliser when these sides met back in December and is the favourite to score the game’s final goal once again on Sunday at 6/1. Or 2.6/1 to bag a goal at any time during the game against West Ham.

Brighton team news

Jakub Moder likely won’t feature for the club again in 2022 after he suffered an ACL injury last month. Tudor Baluta also remains on the long term injury list due to an ankle problem that has plagued him all season resulting in him missing out on every matchday squad so far.

Jeremy Sarmiento and Enock Mwepu haven’t been involved in the last few squads with thigh and groin problems respectively. The pair are rated as having a slim chance of being involved in the final game of the season should they prove their fitness in the days building up to the match.

Neal Maupay, Adam Lallana, Tariq Lamptey, Shane Duffy and Adam Webster will all be hoping for a return to the starting XI having been benched for the 1-1 draw at Leeds.

West Ham team news

Mark Noble, Alphonse Areola and Alex Kral will all make their final appearances for the Hammers this weekend. Noble (pictured above), who came through the academy at the club, is retiring at the end of this season aged 35. Areola and Krul will see their loan deals come to an end with the club unlikely to make an offer to sign either permanently given they have only made one appearance each in the Premier League.

Angelo Ogbonna is still in rehab after his knee injury. While he is back in training, the target is for a pre-season return and won’t be involved here. Said Benrahma is also a major doubt for this match after suffering an ankle injury that kept him out of the squad for the 2-2 draw against Manchester City. He is back jogging and faces a race against time to prove his fitness to David Moyes before the squad is named for the trip to Brighton.
