Chicago Bears @ Seattle Seahawks: Preview, prediction and odds

Preview for Chicago Bears @ Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks will look to return to winning ways when they welcome the Chicago Bears to Lumen Field for Monday Night Football in Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season.

Mike Macdonald’s side restricted Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to just three points, with the defending Super Bowl champions preventing their opponents from reaching the red zone throughout the contest.

The 20-3 win improved Seattle’s record to 4-3 and provided an impressive response to their earlier inconsistencies.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba was once again key to their success, recording nine receptions for 150 yards and a touchdown.

Quarterback Sam Darnold has thrown eight touchdowns and eight interceptions this season, with turnovers proving particularly costly when Seattle have been forced into obvious passing situations.

However, the Seahawks have been excellent defensively, ranking among the league’s best teams against both the run and pass.

Seattle lead the NFL in yards allowed per play at just 3.99, while their secondary has conceded an average of only 153.6 passing yards per game.

The Seahawks have also restricted opponents to 3.48 yards per rushing attempt, the second-best figure in the league.

That defensive strength will face a significant test against a Chicago side that have developed one of the NFL’s most productive offences under head coach Ben Johnson.

The Bears have won five of their opening seven games and arrive in Seattle following a 30-24 win over New England.

Quarterback Caleb Williams impressed against the Patriots, throwing for 308 yards and two touchdowns as Chicago recorded another important result in their pursuit of the NFC North title.

Prediction for Chicago Bears @ Seattle Seahawks

Seattle will take plenty of confidence from their performance against Kansas City, particularly after restricting one of the NFL’s strongest offences to just three points.

The Seahawks have been outstanding defensively, and their ability to limit explosive passing plays could make life difficult for Williams.

Chicago have been particularly effective on the ground, but their rushing attack faces a stern test against a Seattle defence allowing fewer than 3.5 yards per carry.

The Bears will need Williams to continue his improved form if they are to find a way through Macdonald’s defensive unit.

At the other end, Smith-Njigba remains Seattle’s biggest attacking threat, and his ability to create opportunities against Chicago’s secondary could prove important.

Chicago have enough quality to make this competitive, but Seattle’s defensive strength, home advantage and confidence following their win over Kansas City give them a slight edge.

Prediction: Seattle Seahawks 24-21 Chicago Bears
