Xhaka reportedly told Arsenal fans to ‘f*** off’ after being subbed vs Palace

Arsenal blow two-goal lead vs Palace

Arsenal went head-to-head with Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Both sides were in pretty similar form heading into the weekend’s action, with Arsenal just one point above the Eagles.

It would be the Gunners who started Sunday’s tie the much brighter of the two teams.

Unai Emery’s side found themselves 2-0 up inside nine minutes at the Emirates, and looked as though they could be set to run riot over Palace.

However, Roy Hodgson’s men slowly worked their way back into the tie.

Wilfried Zaha would be booked for diving in the opening 45, before VAR decided to overturn the decision, and award Palace a penalty.

Luka Milivojevic would step up to convert said spot-kick.

Crystal Palace would then equalise seven minutes after the interval.

Xhaka not a popular man in north London

Shortly after Jordan Ayew made it 2-2, Granit Xhaka, Arsenal’s captain on the day, was subbed off.

Xhaka would reportedly receive a fair bit of stick from the Arsenal faithful as he made his way off the pitch.

And the way that Xhaka is said to have handled the situation was rather unprofessional.

As mentioned above by football.london’s James Benge, Xhaka cupped his ears towards the booing Arsenal fans.

But what was perhaps worst is that the Swiss international is said to have shouted ‘f*** off’ towards the Arsenal fans as he walked off the pitch.

Both the Evening Standard’s James Olley and James Benge tweeted about the incident.

Various news outlets such as the Mirror and Goal have also reported Xhaka as telling Arsenal’s fans to ‘f*** off’.
