Wolves vs Pyunik betting tips: Europa League qualifying match preview and predictions

Wolves vs Pyunik prediction: Wolves 3-0 Pyunik

After the first leg at Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium, Wolves can surely start planning for the play-off round.

It was a fairly even game in truth until the half hour mark when Diogo Jota slid in Matt Doherty who finished cooly.

Before half time, their advantage had been doubled.

Jota squared the ball to Raúl Jiménez who smashed home from close range.

2-0 at the break.

Then, just seconds after the interval, Jiménez scored his second and Wolves’ third, charging through and finishing cooly.

There was no further scoring until stoppage time until substitute Patrick Cutrone was brought down by Erik Vardanyan.

Penalty.

Rúben Neves took on the responsibility and rolled home a fourth, securing Wolves’ biggest ever away win in Europe.

That win all but secures their place in the play-off round but will they make it four European wins out of four back at Molineux?

Pyunik have won six of 29 European away matches but are a huge 22/1 to add to that.

Even a draw would be a surprise and that is 11/1.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Pyunik: Match preview

It’s all been too easy for Wolves in Europe. So far.

A 2-0 home win was followed by a 4-1 win in Belfast as they defeated Crusaders in the second qualifying round.

Then, last week’s 4-0 win in Yerevan means Nuno Espírito Santo can surely start planning for the play-off round.

Awaiting them there will be Torino after they demolished Shakhtyor Soligorsk 5-0 in their first leg.

Assuming they get through this, that will be a far tougher test but they have to finish the job here first.

Mixed in with these Europa League qualifiers, the Premier League season began for Wolves at the weekend.

Leander Dendoncker thought he’d snatched a win at Leicester but his goal was, controversially, ruled out by VAR.

They had to settle for a 0-0 draw at the King Power Stadium which is not a bad result at all.

With Manchester United visiting Molineux on Monday, can Wolves build up some momentum with a big win here?

Can Pyunik cause a shock?

As for Pyunik, this is about restoring pride.

They had already upset the odds twice to get to this round, beating Shkupi of Macedonia and Czech side Jablonec.

However, the Armenian Premier League runners-up look set for a third qualifying round exit for a second season running.

Aleksandr Tarkhanov’s side did not let the heavy defeat to Wolves affect their weekend performance though.

On Sunday, they beat FC Urartu 3-0 away from home with all three goals coming in the final 12 minutes.

That was their first league match of 2019/20.

Will they leave Molineux with a respectable scoreline?

With Manchester United to come, and with the tie almost certainly won, Nuno Espírito Santo is expected to rotate heavily.

That is something he certainly isn’t famed for but, given the circumstances, it would be foolish not to.

Goalkeeper John Ruddy is expected to get a chance ahead of regular number one Rui Patrício.

In defence, Jesús Vallejo who’s on loan from Real Madrid, is set to make his debut.

22 year old Max Kilman will join him in the back three, also making his debut

Rúben Vinagre and Adama Traoré will come in at wing-back, displacing Jonny and Matt Doherty respectively.

It’ll be all change in central-midfield too.

Bruno Jordão will make his debut alongside Morgan Gibbs-White and Romain Saïss.

Up front, Raúl Jiménez will be rested with Patrick Cutrone being handed his first start in Old Gold.

The Italian joined from A.C. Milan for £18 million over the summer.

Despite all the changes, this side should ease past Pyunik.

As for FC Pyunik, their manager Aleksandr Tarkhanov is expected to name an unchanged XI from the first leg.

Andrija Dragojević is the first choice goalkeeper.

Kristi Marku and Maksim Zhestokov will be the two centre-backs in front of him.

In midfield, Erik Vardanyan is back after after he was sent off in the Czech Republic but will be on the bench..

Artur Miranyan will continue to lead the line with Edgar Manucharyan an injury doubt.

Can this side cause a huge upset?
