West Ham vs Huddersfield Town betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

West Ham United vs Huddersfield prediction: West Ham United 3-0 Huddersfield

A banker home win?

West Ham’s dreadful display last weekend may suggest not but Manuel Pellegrini will be confident of his sides’ chances of getting back to winning ways.

That’s because Huddersfield are dreadful and will do well to get anything out of this game.

Should be a routine home win.

West Ham United vs Huddersfield Town: Who will win?

West Ham are huge odds on favourites at 4/7 to claim all 3 points.

Huddersfield have won just 1 away game this season and are 5/1 to double that measly tally.

A draw, which in itself would be a surprise, is 14/5.

Over 2.5 goals is evens and both teams to score no is 4/6.

West Ham to win and both teams to score no is 11/8.

Marko Arnautović could return to the Hammers starting XI. The Austrian is 3/1 to score first and 5/4 to net anytime.

Felipe Anderson is their top scorer this season with 9 goals in all competitions. The Brazilian is 4/1 to score first and 9/5 to score in 90 minutes.

Steve Mounié will lead the line for the visitors targeting his second goal of the season. He’s 11/1 to score first and 4/1 to add to his measly tally.

Both Anderson and Arnautović to score is 11/2.

Both Hernández and Anderson to score is 6/1.

Both Mounié and Aaron Mooy to score is 40/1.

West Ham United vs Huddersfield Town: Match preview

West Ham continue to be consistently inconsistent.

Last weekend they were absolutely terrible in their 2-0 defeat to Cardiff City in South Wales.

That continued West Ham’s horrific form against sides in the drop zone.

In fact, they have only won one of their last nine Premier League away games against sides starting the day in the relegation zone, drawing 4 and losing 4.

That sole win was a 2-0 victory over Fulham, 2-0 in December.

Nevertheless, they are ninth and still have an outside chance of getting into Europe.

They’re also much better at home.

They’ve won 7 home matches so far and haven’t lost at the London Stadium since the 22nd of December.

Surely they’ll win this one too won’t they?

Huddersfield continue to look well out of their depth.

Last weekend they put up very little resistance in a 2-0 home defeat by Bournemouth.

The Terriers have amassed just 14 points all season and are 16 points from safety.

However, one of those points was in a 1-1 draw with West Ham in November.

Could they spring a surprise here and get their first away win since 25 November?

It seems unlikely.

After an abysmal performance last weekend, Manuel Pellegrini is expected to make a few changes.

Goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański has made more saves than anybody else in the league this season (117) but could be in for an easier afternoon here.

In defence, Fabián Balbuena could return.

The Paraguayan international has not played since 22 December due to a knee injury.

The rest of the defence and the two holding midfielders will remain unchanged.

Further forward though, only Felipe Anderson is a guarantee to keep his place.

Samir Nasri and Michail Antonio could come in for Manuel Lanzini and Robert Snodgrass.

Up front, Marko Arnautović could return.

He hasn’t started since 29 January when he did not get his move to Chinese Champions Shànghǎi SIPG.

Javier Hernández will drop to the bench.

Surely this side has far too much for Huddersfield doesn’t it?

As for the visitors, despite defeat to Bournemouth, Jan Siewert is expected to name almost the same side.

Goalkeeper Jonas Lössl has made the most punches in the Premier League (17).

Ahead of him Juninho Bacuna, a midfielder by trade, will continue at right-back ahead of  Florent Hadergjonaj.

Tommy Smith is back from suspension but is unlikely to come back in.

In the middle, Mathias Jørgensen has won back his place ahead of Terence Kongolo.

In midfield, it’ll continue to be a 4-4-2 diamond.

Jon Gorenc Stanković’s form at the base of the diamond has seen him called up to the Slovenian national team for the very first time.

Jonathan Hogg is still out with a rib injury so Aaron Mooy, Philip Billing and Alex Pritchard will continue in midfield.

Up front, January arrival Karlan Grant will come in for Elias Kachunga.

Isaac Mbenza and Adama Diakhaby are both still sidelined.

Can this XI stop the rot?
