Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has joked that the Premier League should add a silver boot for the rest of the Premier League, with Erling Haaland almost a dead cert to bag the award this season and smash plenty of records doing so.
The Norwegian striker, who only arrived at Manchester City this summer, has already bagged 14 goals this season, including three Premier League hat-tricks, and is seven goals clear of the second-placed man in the race for the golden boot.
Such is his phenomenally rapid rate of scoring (one every 54 minutes) that he only needs nine more to equal last season’s golden boot winner, something that on current form he will do before the clubs break for the World Cup, after just 14 games.
And Newcastle striker Wilson, who has scored three times so far this season has joked that the former Dortmund man ‘needs his own boot’ such is his goalscoring ability, and that the division should add a second one for anyone else to compete for.
“As strikers we’re competing against that so obviously for a striker you score the most goals and here’s a golden boot at the end of the season”, he told The Footballer’s Football Podcast.
“That’s out of the picture, do you know what I mean? That’s gone, he [Haaland] needs his own boot and then we need another boot.
Meanwhile, 1.8 million people have signed a petition demanding that Haaland be banned from playing football due to not being human, such is his phenomenal rate of scoring, while his 54 minutes per goal ratio at present is exactly half of legendary City striker Sergio Aguero.
