Watford vs Chelsea prediction: Watford 0-3 Chelsea

Watford are still winless.

The Hornets’ struggles continue and they are in desperate need of a victory to kick-start their season.

Chelsea meanwhile, despite a set-back in mid-week, can’t stop winning and head to Hertfordshire in great form.

Everything points to an away win in this one.

Watford vs Chelsea: Who will win?

Watford are a big 4/1 to claim their first victory of the season.

Chelsea meanwhile are odds-on favourites at 8/13 to leave Vicarage Road with all three points.

A draw is 3/1.

Over 2.5 goals is 8/13.

Both teams to score no is 6/5.

Chelsea to win and over 2.5 goals is 6/5.

Chelsea to win and both teams to score no is 2/1.

Watford’s wait for a first win goes on.

Last weekend, they were held to a goalless draw by Bournemouth at home in a strong contender for most boring game of the season so far.

Quique Sánchez Flores’ side have now drawn their last three games, following a 1-1 at Tottenham and a o-0 with Sheffield United.

That shows they are becoming more competitive but are still adrift at the foot of the table with no league wins since April.

Then, on Tuesday, they lost 2-0 at Goodison Park to Everton in the Carabao Cup but that isn’t their biggest concern just now.

Next weekend, they travel to face the side currently one place and two points above them, Norwich.

That will be an absolutely pivotal match but will they still be winless ahead of their clash in Norfolk?

Will Chelsea win again?

As for Chelsea, in contrast to their hosts, they have enjoyed numerous wins lately.

Last weekend, Christian Pulisic got his first, second and then third goals for the club in a 4-2 drubbing of Burnley.

Captain America announcing himself at the West London club with a perfect hat-trick.

That made it seven wins in a row in all competitions with four of those coming in the Premier League.

But then, they came crashing back down to earth in mid-week.

On Wednesday night, Frank Lampard’s team were, somewhat surprisingly, beaten 2-1 by Manchester United in the Carabao Cup at home.

Despite all the positivity, that was their third home loss in all competitions at Stamford Bridge.

Last season, they only lost two of 32 home matches.

Nevertheless, they have won their last six away matches in all competitions and will be confident of making that seven here.

Quique Sánchez Flores made changes in mid-week.

However, in a pretty uninspiring display, hardly anyone if anybody staked a claim for a first-team place.

Ben Foster will return in goal despite the fact only one Premier League goalkeeper has conceded more this season.

In defence, José Cholevas is back from a one-match suspension after picking up five yellow cards in the first nine games of the season.

The Greece international will come back in for Adam Masina at left wing-back.

From Tuesday, Dimitri Foulquier, Sebastian Prödl and Adrian Mariappa will all drop back out.

Daryl Janmaat, Craig Cathcart and Christian Kabasele will replace them.

In midfield, likewise Abdoulaye Doucouré and Étienne Capoue are expected to come back in for Will Hughes and Domingos Quina.

Up front, Watford do have many issues but their biggest one right now is scoring goals.

So far in the Premier League they’ve scored just five goals in ten games with two of those coming against Arsenal.

Danny Welbeck and Troy Deeney remain sidelined which could be the root cause of the issue.

Club-record signing Ismaïla Sarr is also out.

So, Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra are likely to be tasked with getting the goals.

Will this struggling side cause a shock?

As for Chelsea, Frank Lampard named some very inexperienced players on Wednesday night.

However, this line-up will surely look very similar to the team that started at Turf Moor.

In goal, Kepa Arrizabalaga will come back in for Willy Caballero.

In defence, Reece James and Marc Guehi both started on Wednesday.

However, both are likely to drop out for captain César Azpilicueta and Fikayo Tomori.

Marcos Alonso is likely to keep his place ahead of Emerson at left-back.

Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen are both injured.

In midfield, Jorginho and Mateo Kovačić are both likely to start despite having started in mid-week.

Mason Mount will come back in with N’Golo Kanté and Ruben Loftus-Cheek injured.

Further forward, despite his goal, Michy Batshuayi will be back on the bench with Tammy Abraham coming back in.

He’ll be flanked by Christian Pulisic and Willian with Callum Hudson-Odoi likely to be the wide-man left out.

Surely this in-form side will be too good for the league’s bottom club.
