Trent Alexander-Arnold set an all-time Premier League record in Liverpool’s meeting with Spurs

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has, on Sunday, etched his name ever further into the history books of English football.

Both Liverpool, and Alexander-Arnold, are of course currently locked in action.

Brimming with confidence on the back of a third successive victory in midweek, the Reds have welcomed Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield, hopeful of leapfrogging the Lilywhites in the Premier League table.

And, as things stand on Merseyside, this is precisely what Jurgen Klopp’s troops are headed towards.

This comes owing to a two-goal advantage on the score-sheet, set in motion by an explosive opening quarter of an hour on Sunday.

Remarkably, after Curtis Jones opened the scoring inside three minutes, Luis Diaz followed suit two minutes later, before Mohamed Salah all but wrapped up the three points for Liverpool a short time later.

As alluded to above, though, it is not the hosts’ goalscorers to this point in proceedings at Anfield who have in fact booked a spot in the record books.

This honour, instead, has been reserved for teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Right-back Alexander-Arnold was responsible for laying on Liverpool’s first of the evening against Tottenham, courtesy of a trademark whipped delivery to the back post.

And, in the process, the England international made history, as the first player to assist a goal in five consecutive appearances in the Premier League, on two separate occasions.
