Revealed: How Rodgers’ sacking impacts Arsenal’s chances of signing Leicester duo

Arsenal could benefit from Brendan Rodgers’ departure.

Leicester City confirmed on Sunday afternoon that Brendan Rodgers has been sacked by the club.

Rodgers joined Leicester in 2019 and helped secure an FA Cup and regular European football. However, Leicester’s form has been poor this season and their latest 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace means they sit 18th in the league and just one point above 20th.

Following the news of Rodgers’ sacking, attention has turned towards the summer transfer window.

It is hard to see the Foxes being able to appoint a new permanent boss before the end of the season next month. And whoever does come in for next season will likely have to be without some of Leicester’s top stars.

Youri Tielemans’ future has been up in the air for some time now and he has been linked with a move to Arsenal. And now, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the Belgian’s future, as well as James Maddison’s – who was also linked with the Gunners previously.

“In terms of how this affects some of Leicester’s star players, I honestly think there was never a chance to keep Youri Tielemans, with or without Rodgers,” Romano said.

“James Maddison is a situation to discuss in the summer, Newcastle have his name on the list since long time but there are also other clubs interested.”
