Lionel Messi will join American side Inter Miami after his exit from French champions Paris St-Germain, according to the BBC.
Messi spent two years in Ligue 1 after a historic stint with Barcelona. He won two Ligue 1 titles in France and continued to impress despite moving well into his 30s.
The Argentine also won the 2022 World Cup whilst on the books of PSG, but after another poor stint in the Champions League, Messi has called it quits on his time in Paris.
The BBC add that Messi wanted to remain in Europe for another season but, after no satisfactory offers were received, he had the straight choice between Inter Miami or Al-Hilal.
Al-Hilal offered a more lucrative deal than the MLS side, but his new contract includes collaboration from brands like Adidas and Apple. No detail is given on how much Messi will earn per week or year with his new club.
As for Barcelona, it is understood that Messi was keen on a return to Barcelona this summer but the Financial Fair Play limitations that will be in place for next season in La Liga made any ambitious plan to bring him back an impossibility.
