On-loan Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has, on Thursday, provided an insight into his plans beyond the close of the summer.
Midfielder Pereira, of course, is currently in the midst of another temporary spell away from Old Trafford.
After failing to make the grade in Serie A with Lazio in 2020/21, the Brazilian sealed a fresh departure last summer, linking up with heavyweights Flamengo in his home country of Brazil.
Pereira's terms in Rio de Janeiro, though, are due to come to a conclusion in less than 24 hours' time.
In turn, amid altogether contrasting reports regarding Flamengo's stance on making the 26-year-old's arrival permanent, Pereira's future has been thrown back up in the air once more.
Such uncertainty appeared to have set the stage for the midfielder to seal a move back to England over the coming weeks, amid suggestions that newly-promoted Fulham were on the verge of closing a deal with their counterparts in Manchester, worth a fee in the region of €13 million.
If the latest comments on the part of Pereira himself are anything to go by, however, then the Cottagers may well have a job on their hands in convincing the club's key target to reinforce their ranks in the middle of the park of the advantages of a move to west London.
This comes with the Brazilian, today, having confirmed his hopes that Flamengo will ultimately opt to make his stay permanent this summer.
“I’m not the one who decides - it’s up to Man United. I would like to stay at Flamengo, but it's not in my hands,” Pereira began.
“I'll see what's best for me and the club. I love Flamengo. We will soon speak and decide.”
The United outcast added: “The relationship between myself and Flamengo has always been very good. This year was incredible for me.
“If it doesn't work out, I'll always leave with my head held high.
“I love the club, I love Flamengo, I'm Flamengo. If I leave, I will come back in the future.”
