Juventus have completed the signing of Newcastle United forward Nick Woltemade on a season-long loan.
The Bianconeri have paid a £3.5million loan fee to the Magpies to secure the services of Woltemade, who joined Newcastle last August for a club-record £69million fee.
Woltemade hit the ground running following his move from Stuttgart, scoring six goals in his first 11 games for the club.
But his form petered out and Woltemade struggled to nail down a place in former manager Eddie Howe’s starting XI.
He finished his debut season with Newcastle with 11 goals and four assists to his name, but has now made the temporary switch to Turin after struggling to make an impression in new manager Matthias Jaissle’s system.
Newcastle are unbeaten in their first three games under Jaissle but, though Woltemade provided an assist for Yoane Wissa in last Saturday’s 2-0 win at Tottenham, the Germany international has appeared an awkward fit for Jaissle’s style of play.
Juventus will hope Woltemade will find Serie A more to his liking, with the 24-year-old joining a side fourth in the early table after winning each of their opening two games.
Woltemade joins Juve as another of their strikers, Jonathan David, departs for pastures new.
David joined Juve last summer following the expiration of his contract at Lille. However, the Canada international scored just eight goals in 46 appearances.
Juve will reportedly cover 50 per cent of David’s salary. The loan features an option to buy worth €25 million.
