Clément Lenglet is set to be named as Tottenham Hotspur's fifth summer signing.

The French defender joins Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perišić and Fraser Forster in heading through the door at Hotspur Way.

Spurs have agreed a season-long loan deal with FC Barcelona for the 27-year-old.

Lenglet to Tottenham, here we go!

Fabrizio Romano has given the "Here We Go" to Clément Lenglet to Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs and Barcelona have agreed a loan deal until June 2023.

The move will not include a buy option as it currently stands, although many reports suggest otherwise.

The defender agreed to the move last week and now the two clubs are just finalising the final details.

Can Lenglet get back to his best at Spurs?

Antonio Conte set out this summer with the clear intention of signing a left-sided central defender.

Tottenham tried hard for Alessandro Bastoni but he was determined to remain at the San Siro.

Therefore, Spurs have been forced to look elsewhere and have made the interesting decision of turning to Clément Lenglet.

Lenglet is coming off the back of one of the toughest seasons of his career in which he totally fell out of favour at Camp Nou.

Last season, he made just 11 starts for Barça in all competitions and the club have been looking to offload him.

But, there is a reason why they forked out €35.9 million to sign him from Sevilla back in 2018.

At the time, he was seen as one of the best young defenders in Europe and his first two seasons at Barcelona were a success.

But whilst the club have gone through two very tough seasons, Lenglet's form has also taken a significant hit.

So, Spurs are certainly taking a gamble by choosing Lenglet, but under the guidance of Conte and in a new environment, there could be hope that he rediscovers his best form.

The Frenchman only has to look at last season when the Italian took Dejan Kulusevski and Rodri Bentancur from Juventus rejects to key members of Spurs' Champions League qualifying team.

The 27-year-old is also a player Conte has been chasing since his time at Inter Milan and he finally has his man.

You only have to look at his ability on the ball and the way Conte wants his centre-backs to influence the match to see why the Spurs boss was keen to get him.
