Arsenal need cover in the centre of their midfield ahead of 2022/23 when Mohamed Eleney and Albert Sambi Lokonga are likely to depart and have singled out Moises Caicedo as the man to provide it.
The Ecuador international has limited Premier League experience but has all the makings of a high-quality midfielder.
Arsenal’s interest in Caicedo first came about back in January and Mikel Arteta and co. were seemingly very keen to get a deal done.
The north Londoners saw bids of £60m, £70m and £80m turned down during the winter window.
Caicedo has since agreed to a new contract with Brighton that keeps him at the club until 2027.
Despite this, Fabrizio Romano still believes the midfielder will be on the move in the summer:
“I think top clubs will try again to sign him in the summer, contract extension helps Brighton for sure but doesn’t change the situation for the summer: top clubs will be there.”
