Tottenham set a new all-time PL record in comeback win over Sheffield United

Tottenham Hotspur secured for themselves a piece of Premier League history, owing to the club’s comeback downing of Sheffield United on Saturday.

For those who may have missed it, Spurs marked their return to action a short time ago.

On the back of a productive opening to the campaign, Ange Postecoglou’s troops played host to the aforementioned Sheffield United, eyeing a 4th win on the trot.

And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what the Lilywhites managed.

This came owing to the most remarkable of comebacks, showcasing the new-found never-say-die spirit being installed by boss Postecoglou.

With a full seven minutes of injury-time on the clock, Tottenham found themselves a goal down, after Gustavo Hamer opened the scoring against the run of play a little over fifteen minutes from time.

Introduced from the bench late in proceedings in north London, the under-fire Richarlison first pulled Spurs level with 98 minutes gone.

And the Brazilian was back at it again moments later, on this occasion teeing up what proved to be the latest of winners for teammate Dejan Kulusevski.

And, as alluded to above, in the process, Tottenham made history.

As per statisticians Opta:

‘Spurs went into the 98th minute trailing to Sheffield United before winning 2-1, the latest winning comeback by a side in Premier League history, surpassing their own record.’
