Preview for Denmark v Wales

Denmark and Wales will both be looking to bounce back from defeats when they meet in UEFA Nations League A on Sunday night.

Denmark suffered a 3-2 loss to Norway in their opening Group 4 fixture, while Wales were beaten 1-0 by Portugal in their first match after earning promotion to League A.

The Red and Whites have now recorded 12 wins, five draws and eight defeats from their 25 Nations League matches and are competing in League A for a fourth consecutive edition of the competition.

Denmark have the better record in previous meetings with Wales, winning seven of their 11 encounters compared with four defeats. There has never been a draw between the nations.

The most recent meeting came at Euro 2020, when Denmark recorded a 4-0 victory to reach the quarter-finals.

Wales have now lost their last three matches against Denmark, with their most recent victory coming in a friendly in November 2008.

Craig Bellamy’s side will arrive in Copenhagen after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Portugal, with Joao Felix scoring the only goal of the game in the first half.

Wales have three more Nations League fixtures during the current international window, with Norway due to visit in October before Denmark make the trip to Wales three days later.

Team News for Denmark v Wales

Riemer could stick with the same Denmark XI that started against Norway, with Rasmus Hojlund expected to continue as the central striker after scoring in the defeat.

Manchester United’s Patrick Dorgu impressed in a more advanced role on the right against Norway and could retain his place, with Mikkel Damsgaard operating on the opposite flank.

Bellamy is also unlikely to make wholesale changes to his Wales side after the encouraging aspects of their performance against Portugal.

Dan James could come into contention for a starting role, potentially replacing Lewis Koumas in the final third.

Wales remain without Harry Wilson, Nathan Broadhead, Karl Darlow, Joe Rodon, Dylan Lawlor, Rubin Colwill and Isaak Davies due to injury.
