Thomas Tuchel spoke to the press on Friday morning ahead of Chelsea’s next outing.
Chelsea will face off with Crystal Palace at Wembley in one of two FA Cup semi-finals taking place this weekend.
Tuchel discussed a number of topics in his presser, including team news.
And there is some good news for Chelsea as Romelu Lukaku, who missed out vs Real Madrid in midweek, is expected to be back, whilst both Ben Chilwell and Callum Hudson-Odoi remain out: “Ben Chilwell is out. Callum is out. Romelu was back in training yesterday and should be ok.”
The German was also asked if he had heard anything new regarding the takeover, to which he replied: “No, to be very honest. It's still a process and I heard talks are still ongoing, also with the government. We hope to have things sorted as soon as possible to have clarity, but I understand it's not that easy.”
Chelsea vs Crystal Palace
At the start of the season, the FA Cup was unlikely to have been that high on Tuchel’s list of priorities.
However, after a season marred by injury woes and off-the-field issues, the FA Cup is now Chelsea’s last chance to rescue what threatens to be a simply awful campaign.
The reigning European champions are out of the Champions League and their Premier League title hopes died around the time Ben Chilwell and Reece James were first injured this season.
Chelsea would also miss out on the League Cup after losing to Liverpool in this year’s final.
And, whilst they are set to finish in the top-four, that is expected, rather than something to be proud of, making the FA Cup the last positive thing they can achieve this term.
