Sofyan Amrabat speaks out on January transfer amid Liverpool and Barcelona links

The midfielder has been the talk of the World Cup so far

Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has admitted that he is ‘proud’ to be linked with European giants this January following a series of excellent performances in the heart of the Morocco midfield, but has insisted that he is happy at Fiorentina for now.

The Moroccan midfielder has been a key part of the Atlas Lions becoming the first side from Africa to reach a World Cup semi-final, and has earned rave reviews for his work-rate, tough tackling nature and his energy in the Morocco engine room.

And, though he has been much-linked with a move away from La Viola since he began to catch the eye in Qatar, Amrabat himself is refusing to get carried away with himself ahead of his nation’s semi-final with France, in which a victory would set up a final with Argentina on Sunday.

“I’m proud to be linked to top clubs like Barcelona and Atlético. But I’m Fiorentina player, I respect the club and I’ve great relationship with the president”, he told Spanish outlet Marca.

Quizzed further on the playing style of Atletico in particular, Amrabat admitted that he was a fan of the more pragmatic football played by the Spanish giants, and that which is being executed to perfection by the Atlas Lions.

“Simeone? We have good coach at Fiorentina too but… yes, I like Cholo’s style”.

Serie A side Fiorentina will look for well in excess of 30m euros to sell World Cup sensation Sofyan Amrabat this January, amid reported interest from Tottenham and Liverpool as well as the Spanish clubs mentioned, while there is also thought to be interest further afield across Europe in what could quickly become a bidding war for his services.
