Barcelona will look to reassert their advantage over Real Madrid at the top of La Liga this afternoon when they visit Levante.
Hansi Flick’s men have won their first four games of the Spanish season – and also hammered Feyenoord 5-1 in the Champions League in midweek – but start the day level on points with Madrid, who thrashed Rayo Vallecano yesterday.
Levante have lost just one of their first four, their opening game against Espanyol. Since then they have drawn at Osasuna and Malaga and beaten Real Betis 5-2.
Barca were 3-2 winners in this fixture last season, a 91st-minute own goal giving Flick’s side the points.
But Levante have won six in a row at home stretching back to last season, and captain Roger Brugue sees no reason why they cannot make it seven by pulling off an upset.
“Barca is a great rival and they’re coming into this game in good form, but we also know we’re strong at home,” Brugue told Levante’s official media channels.
“We’ve won six straight at home and we’re going there without fear, without any inferiority complex.”
