Rodrigo Bentancur injury return latest

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou has, on Friday, provided an update on the wellbeing of Rodrigo Bentancur.

For those not aware, the name of midfielder Bentancur has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in north London over the last couple of weeks.

This comes after the Uruguayan, on the treatment table since all the way back in February owing to a Cruciate Ligament rupture, was spotted back in training alongside the rest of Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs squad.

Such footage has since given rise to hope amongst the Lilywhites faithful that Bentancur is closing on an imminent return to the pitch, set to add to an impressive crop of midfield talent also featuring the likes of Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, and James Maddison.

On Friday, however, Tottenham’s boss has moved to quell such expectations.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s upcoming showdown with Liverpool, Ange Postecoglou was asked for the latest on Bentancur’s potential return.

“There’s no change. All Rodrigo is doing at the moment is warm-ups with the teams so he’s not doing it on his own, but he’s not participated in any sort of meaningful training yet.”
