Manchester United faced a trip to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils headed into the clash aware that a defeat against Dean Smith and co. would hand Manchester City their 3rd league title in five years.

Mason Greenwood then made it 2-1 four minutes later, before Edinson Cavani added some gloss to the scoreline with three minutes of normal time remaining:

Ferdinand’s message to Cavani

Cavani’s goal against Villa was the hitman’s 8th in his last seven appearances in all competitions.

Such form has understandably seen the United faithful make clear their desire to see the Uruguayan remain at Old Trafford beyond the summer.

Reports this weekend have suggested that the Reds will offer the veteran £250,000-a-week to keep him at the club next season.

And one former Manchester United man who would seemingly have no issues with Cavani staying put is Rio Ferdinand.
