Simon Johnson of the Evening Standard this afternoon provided an update on the fitness of Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.
Chelsea vs Arsenal
Maurizio Sarri’s Blues played their final of 38 Premier League fixtures last weekend, with the capital giants having picked up a 0-0 draw at the King Power Stadium versus Leicester.
This point saw Chelsea secure 3rd-place in the English top-flight table, and automatic entry into the group stages of next season’s Champions League.
However, their campaign has not yet come to a close, with a Europa League final meeting with London rivals Arsenal still to come at the end of the month.
Sarri’s side secured their place in the competition’s finale courtesy of a penalty shootout victory over Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt at Stamford Bridge this day last week.
Arsenal, meanwhile, pushed past Valencia in impressive fashion to book their spot in the tournament’s showcase, with the Gunners having the extra incentive of requiring a win in 2 weeks’ time to secure a place in the Champions League next season.
RLC out, Kante in?
The hopes of Unai Emery’s men of getting one over on their fellow English giants were boosted earlier today, on the back of a heartbreaking piece of news for Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek:
Ruben Loftus-Cheek has ruptured his Achilles tendon. Absolutely devastating. No one deserves that injury but particularly not him and not now. #CFC

As such, English international Loftus-Cheek has been ruled out of May 29th’s final in Baku.
As per the aforementioned update from Simon Johnson, though, there appears to be better news on fellow midfielder N’Golo Kante.
French dynamo Kante has been sidelined since picking up a hamstring injury versus Watford two weeks ago.
It appears ‘increasingly likely’, though, that the former Leicester man will be fit to feature versus Arsenal:
