The latest social media activity on the part of Newcastle United has piqued widespread attentions online late on Sunday.
Eddie Howe’s troops, of course, marked their return to action a short time ago.
After getting back on track courtesy of a pair of successive victories leading into the international break, the Magpies, this evening, welcomed Manchester United to Tyneside, for a crunch clash in the race for a top-4 berth in the Premier League.
Howe and co. headed into proceedings in the knowledge that an eventual victory would see them leapfrog their opponents on the day, back into third spot.
And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what Newcastle went on to manage.
This came as a stellar performance was ultimately capped off by a pair of 2nd-half goals on the part of Joe Willock and Callum Wilson, en route to an eventual 2-0 result at St. James’ Park.

For those who may have missed it, in the buildup to today’s clash, Ten Hag set tongues wagging across Tyneside.
This came upon the Dutchman, for the 2nd time in the space of a couple of months, highlighting his concern with alleged time-wasting antics on the part of opposite number Howe’s Magpies:
‘We know they delay, yeah. It’s something that is what the referees don’t want, they want to have tempo in the game. That is the aim of the Premier League to have tempo in the game. So they (referees) also have to be consistent to let the game go. Do and act what the policy is,’ Ten Hag explained.
In turn, late on Sunday, the social media admin at Newcastle couldn’t help but take advantage of the opportunity to get their own back.
This came in the form of a post on Twitter, featuring one short but sweet statement:
‘No time-wasting required’
No time-wasting required… 😏
