Fulham confirm double signing of Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios from Real Madrid

Fulham have completed the signing of striker Gonzalo Garcia from Real Madrid for a reported £34million.

The 22-year-old Spaniard has signed a five-year deal at Craven Cottage and reunites with former Real boss Alvaro Arbeloa, who is now in charge of the Whites.

Garcia was the top scorer at last year’s Club World Cup and has scored 13 goals in 51 appearances for the LaLiga giants.

Garcia said: ”I’m very grateful, very happy to be here.

”I have to thank the board and Arbeloa for the trust they’ve put in me, and I’m very, very excited to start.”

Garcia is Arbeloa’s first signing of the summer since replacing Marco Silva as manager, with the ex-Liverpool right-back leaving Real at the end of last season.

Tony Khan added: “I’m thrilled to welcome Gonzalo García to Fulham! Gonzalo is a very talented young striker, and he is excited to come to Fulham and play in the Premier League.

“We all believe that Gonzalo will be a tremendous addition to the squad and will prove to be an excellent player for the Club under Álvaro’s leadership! Come on Fulham!”

Fulham sign Palacios after Garcia confirmed

He will be joined by fellow Real youngster Cesar Palacios at Craven Cottage, with the 21-year-old’s arrival announced roughly 30 minutes after Garcia’s.

Palacios, 21, has joined for a reported £8.5m and has signed a five-year deal with the club holding an option to extend by 12 months.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old midfielder Thiago Pitarch has also been strongly linked with a move from Los Blancos.
