Mo Salah breaks tie with Liverpool's full-back duo in win over Everton


 

The latest assist bagged by Liverpool star Mohamed Salah on Sunday has since given rise to a remarkable statistic surrounding the creative exploits of the Egyptian international.

Jurgen Klopp's troops were of course back in action a short time ago.

After Manchester City made short work of Watford on Saturday, the Reds welcomed Everton to Anfield for the latest edition of the Merseyside Derby, aware that nothing but a three-point haul of their own would suffice.

And, when all was said and done this evening, emerge triumphant is precisely what Liverpool went on to do.

A hard-fought 90 minutes which saw visitors Everton, to their credit, provide a solid account of themselves, ultimately saw the quality boasted by the hosts simply prove too much.

The game's opener was forthcoming just beyond the hour mark, when a clever exchange between Mo Salah and Divock Origi resulted in the former's delivery to the back post being nodded home by the arriving Andy Robertson:

And the clash was ended as a contest once and for all five minutes from time, when a pair of substitutes combined - Luis Diaz's athletic effort back across the face of goal nodded home by the impactful Divock Origi:

Liverpool, in turn, have closed the gap on table-topping Manchester City to a solitary point once more.

As alluded to above, though, amid another stellar evening for Liverpool as a collective, one member of Jurgen Klopp's ranks in particular too secured for himself an altogether head-turning benchmark from an individual perspective.

The player in question? Mohamed Salah.
