Mikel Arteta sends concerning Manchester City message after losing title

Mikel Arteta has been discussing Manchester City over the weekend.

Manchester City’s match this weekend comes on Sunday at 4 pm vs Chelsea.

Heading into the gameweek, Manchester City knew that a win over the Blues would hand them a 5th league title in six seasons.

However, thanks to Arsenal, they have already been crowned champions.

An Arsenal side, which saw William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli and Oleksandr Zinchenko out of action due to injury and Granit Xhaka playing left-back, fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.

As a result, Manchester City have already won the league without playing a game.

Now, speaking after that defeat, Mikel Arteta was asked if it is possible to match Manchester City, to which Arteta replied: “Yeah but this is my job, this is our job, this is my job and this is what this club deserves. It wasn’t enough.

“We need to be at that level but we need to find other ways to do it. For example today we needed to play much better. This is my responsibility.”

Arteta’s comments seemingly suggest that Arsenal will not be able to match Man City next season either, or as he put it, ‘in three months time’.
