Messi joined by Man United & Tottenham stars: Argentina’s provisional World Cup squad leaked

The alleged provisional squad of players selected by Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni for this month’s World Cup has been leaked on Sunday evening.

The Albiceleste, of course, are set to make the journey to Qatar this winter amongst the favourites to ultimately clinch glory on world football’s biggest stage.

Scaloni’s troops, remarkably, have not tasted defeat in a single fixture since all the way back in 2019, a run which too saw them bring an end to the country’s lengthy wait for silverware.

Not only that, but amongst the Argentines’ ever-improving ranks are a Lionel Messi back in top form, defenders Cristian Romero and Lisandro Martinez considered as two of the Premier League’s very best, and options galore up top, through the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Julian Alvarez.

Safe to say, then, that the nation’s boss will have a tough task in whittling down the options at his disposal to a definitive 26-man list for the World Cup.

As alluded to above, though, this weekend, Scaloni has taken a significant step towards precisely that.

This comes amid reports stemming from Argentina that the 44-year-old has now chosen his provisional list of 31 stars, set to be cut down by five over the weeks ahead.

The likes of the aforementioned Messi, Romero and Lautaro are all included, as are other high-profile names in Paulo Dybala, Leandro Paredes and Angel Di Maria.
