Manchester United headed into the game sat 5th in the Premier League.
The Red Devils were one point off 4th with a game in hand on Newcastle United, who were also in action on Sunday.
As for Aston Villa, they were no doubt hoping for a new manager bounce as Unai Emery stepped into the dugout for the first time.
When all was said and done at Old Trafford, it was Aston Villa who picked up the win.
Villa got off to an excellent start under Unai Emery. Leon Bailey skipped away from Lisandro Martinez before slotting past David de Gea seven minutes in.
The Argentine’s poor touch four minutes later then led to a free-kick, which Lucas Digne scored to make it 2-0.
Villa’s two-goal lead was quickly restored three minutes into the second half. Martinez’s poor-headed clearance fell to Ramsey, who slipped in Watkins and made a run into the box. Watkins then found the attacker unmarked in the United box to smash home their third of the day.

how the fuck does Lindelof not win that duel? and then leads to a goal from Ramsey, so so frustrating , just not a good defender.

A shamles of a start from United. That’s a brilliant free-kick, but it was a gift from United, Martinez with a rare poor touch. The defending for the first goal was abysmal, never enough pressure on the ball #mufc

Definitely something to research in future.
Emi Martinez came out of goal, stood 15-20 yards behind the free kick and started directing Villa teammates on how to properly execute that 2nd goal. A little bit on other Villa players in the United wall as well.

#MUFC can’t live with Leon Bailey’s movement. Martinez and Lindelof don’t know where he is…
