Manchester United have taken the first steps towards signing West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.
The 20-year-old has impressed with the Hammers this season breaking into the England squad this month.
Old Trafford officials have begun talks with the east London club and an opening bid has been reportedly tabled.

Italian journalist Nicolo Schira from Gazzetta dello Sport claims United have made a €40 million bid for Rice.
The Red Devils hold a really strong interest in the player and want to bring him to Old Trafford.
Despite being already well-stocked in central midfield Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appears keen to add to his options.
United have begun talks with the Hammers over a deal with their opening offer likely to be rejected.
The midfielder has recently signed a new deal at the London Stadium and will command a higher fee than €40m.

Manchester Evening News have revealed United’s probable line-up against Watford on Saturday.
Solskjaer has been tipped to make four changes for his first game as permanent manager.
