Luis Diaz bags maiden Liverpool award

Liverpool star Luis Diaz has, on Friday, clinched his first piece of individual silverware since joining the club.

Colombian wide-man Diaz, of course, sealed a big-money move to Merseyside during the January transfer window, departing Portuguese giants FC Porto on the back of a hugely successful spell at the Estadio do Dragao.

And, safe to say, the 25-year-old has since wasted little time in providing the Liverpool faithful with sufficient evidence of the kind of explosive exploits he is primed to add to Jurgen Klopp's ranks over the years to come.

Diaz has slotted seamlessly onto the left-hand side of the Reds' front-3, shining in meetings with the likes of Norwich, Leeds and Chelsea.

It is the winger's efforts on his way to finding the net versus Brighton early last month, though, which have today seen Diaz recognised by means of an award.

The accolade in question? Liverpool's Goal of the Month for March.

As per an official announcement across the club's social media platforms, Diaz's header against Brighton on the 12th of March, which saw the Colombian latch onto Joel Matip's defence-splitting pass to nod a brave finish beyond Robert Sanchez, has beaten out competition from the likes of Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino to take its spot atop Liverpool's shortlist of standout goals for the month of March:

Hornets clash

Diaz, of course, will be hopeful of featuring from the off this weekend, when Liverpool mark their post-international break return to action in a Premier League meeting with Watford.

Jurgen Klopp’s troops head into the Anfield clash on the back of a stellar spell of form prior to the latest round of international fixtures, having rattled off a head-turning 15 wins from the club’s last 16 outings across all competitions.

Such efforts have seen the Reds reestablish themselves in the thick of the race for the English top-flight title, now sitting just a solitary point off champions Manchester City at the division’s summit.

Not only that, but, should Liverpool, as expected, emerge with all three points once more on Saturday afternoon, then they will at least temporarily leapfrog City into top spot, with Pep Guardiola and co. not set to return to action until later in the day.
