Liverpool’s Sadio Mane opens up about Real Madrid interest

Liverpool’s Sadio Mane & Real Madrid

Sadio Mane has enjoyed an outstanding 2018-19 season with Liverpool.

Mane, along with team-mate Mo Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, shared the Premier League Golden Boot award with 22 league goals apiece.

The 27-year-old has also scored four goals in the Champions League in 12 games.

Throughout the season, Mane has been linked with a possible move to Real Madrid.

The Spanish press pushed that rumour after Zinedine Zidane returned for his second spell at the club.

Mane talks to Paul Joyce

Liverpool take on Tottenham in the Champions League final on Saturday night.

Ahead of the Spurs showpiece, Mane has spoken to Times reporter Paul Joyce.

Joyce quizzed Mane about the transfer links to Real Madrid. The Senegalese star replied, saying:

Always this is part of football so we have to deal with it. But for me the most important thing is Liverpool and I’m happy here.

I’m preparing for one of the biggest games for the club, and the fans and the players as well, so let’s focus on this one first and win it.

It’s always a pleasure that this kind of team [Real Madrid] wants [you], but don’t forget Liverpool. They beat big teams.

Mane’s comments suggest that he has no intention of leaving Anfield anytime soon.

For the record, Mane is under contract with the Reds until 2023.
