Liverpool vs Manchester City: Fabinho explains why he wasn’t worried about Erling Haaland

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has explained why he wasn’t worried about facing Erling Haaland.

Liverpool faced off with Manchester City at the weekend in a Premier League clash.

With the Reds down in 10th and Manchester City undefeated, an easy win for Pep Guardiola and co. was predicted.

However, when all was said and done at Anfield, Liverpool came away with a 1-0 win thanks to Mohamed Salah.

It was also the first game this season that Erling Haaland did not manage a single goal contribution.

The Norwegian had a few half chances but failed to truly test Alisson.

And now, speaking after the game, Fabinho has explained why he was not worried about facing Haaland:

“We were working well on the right side with (James) Milner, Joe Gomez, so communication and also understanding with the other players is very important, and I think it worked very well. Then the two defenders played an excellent game, they managed to close Haaland’s spaces well.

“Of course, a player of that quality will always be able to have space, create chances, which is what happened, but Alisson was also very secure, so I’m happy to have managed to close the spaces of a team as good as City.”
