Liverpool head into the game on the back of a huge 2-1 win over Tottenham in the Premier League.

That result means Liverpool are seven points off 4th but with a game in hand.

And given Southampton’s form, the Reds are likely confident of picking up another win this weekend as well.

Ahead of the game, 101GreatGoals has taken a look at the latest Liverpool team news.

James Milner

Milner started in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Napoli at the beginning of this month but was forced off after 48 minutes.

The midfielder went off with a concussion. Speaking on Milner post-Napoli, Klopp said: “Don’t know. He seemed to be fine now but we have to probably do further checks.”

Milner was not in the squad vs Derby on November 9.

Luis Diaz

Luis Diaz was a key figure in Liverpool’s side for much of 2022.

However, the Colombian suffered a knee injury during a 3-2 loss to Arsenal earlier in October and is not expected to return to full fitness until December, at which point the World Cup will be on.

This has left Liverpool’s left-hand side rather thin on the ground, meaning more minutes for Fabio Carvalho seems likely.

Joel Matip

Like Diaz, Matip was injured in the 3-2 loss to Arsenal earlier in October.

Klopp has previously said that he hopes Matip can return for the final few games before the World Cup: “Everything is going well, but he needs a bit of time. I think with him, it will be tight until the World Cup break; hopefully, in the last two or three games, he might be in contention, but I don’t know yet.”

Diogo Jota

Diogo Jota was expected to fill in for Diaz on Liverpool’s left flank whilst the South American was out.

However, Jota picked up a calf injury vs Manchester City and will now miss the World Cup.

Klopp said: “He will miss the World Cup. [It’s a] pretty serious injury in the calf muscle and now the recovery process starts. We can say that because he will not be in for a long time; we talk about months.”

Naby Keita

Naby Keita has not played for Liverpool since the Community Shield defeat of Manchester City at the end of July.

Keita was ill before sustaining a muscle problem.
