An update on the future of Leeds United head coach Sam Allardyce has come to the fore late on Thursday evening.
And the news will be welcomed by all of a Whites persuasion hopeful of the veteran tactician’s stay proving a short-lived one.
Allardyce, of course, was brought to Elland Road early last month.
On the back of the dismissals of both Jesse Marsch and Javi Gracia, the powers that be in west Yorkshire came to the decision to bring the 68-year-old in, as one last roll of the dice in the club’s bid to stave off relegation.
A 4-1 final day drubbing at the hands of Tottenham last weekend, however, saw Leeds’ top-flight stay officially brought to an end.
Drawn on his future post-match, meanwhile, Allardyce confirmed that talks had been pencilled in with the club’s board, over the possibility of extending his stay into next season.
As per a report from the reliable Mike McGrath of The Telegraph:
‘Allardyce, 68, met with club CEO Angus Kinnear for scheduled talks over his four games at the club where he failed to get the club out of the bottom three. It is understood the former England manager will not be staying on in his short-term role.’
Attentions at Elland Road, as a result, will now turn towards identifying the right manager to lead the club’s charge towards a swift return to the Premier League.
Sam Allardyce will not be in the dugout at Elland Road next season
