An insight into the potential impact of Premier League clubs emerging triumphant from both the Europa League and Europa Conference League this season has been provided on Thursday.
The evening, to date, has of course proven an altogether positive one for English clubs on the continent.
First, Leicester City booked their spot in the semi-finals of UEFA’s newest European competition, the Conference League, courtesy of a 2-1 win over Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven.

And this has since been followed by equally impressive exploits on the part of David Moyes’ West Ham, who, at the time of writing, boast a head-turning 3-0 lead at Olympique Lyonnais.
So, just what would both Leicester and West Ham defying the odds to go all the way in Europe’s 2nd and 3rd tier competitions mean for next season’s Premier League allocation on the continent?
Well, as alluded to above, an insight into precisely that has been provided on Thursday evening.
As per a report from Dale Johnson of ESPN, the Foxes and Hammers sealing respective glory whilst missing out on European qualification courtesy of domestic finish would culminate in a pair of additional spots being opened up for English clubs.
The latter would take their spot in the Champions League, with the former in the Europa, amid the possibility of as many as nine Premier League clubs competing in UEFA competition in 2022/23.
It is therefore also important to note that any and all clubs who book their qualification by means of league finish will not be affected by the endeavours of Leicester and West Ham in Europe.
If Leicester and/or West Ham win a European title and do not qualify domestically that’s a +1 for a Premier League places in Europe.
So Prem could have up to 9 places.
Does not impact anyone who qualifies by right domestically.
