Fresh insight provided into Gavi's Barcelona contract talks

A fresh insight into the ongoing contract negotiations between Barcelona and youngster Gavi has been provided on Friday.

And the news will no doubt be met with widespread excitement on the part of those hopeful of seeing the Spanish starlet continue plying his trade in Blaugrana colours for years to come.

This comes with Gavi, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, inching ever closer to committing to fresh terms at the Camp Nou.

A new meeting between those in a position of power in the Catalan capital, and the representatives of the club's midfield sensation, is understood to have taken place earlier today.

And the discussion between the two parties proved an altogether productive one, with Barca's latest proposal 'appreciated' by Gavi and co.

The 17-year-old, in turn, is expected to put pen to paper on a new long-term deal over the coming weeks, following teammate Ronald Araujo in committing his future to the Blaugrana.

Betis test

The latest word on Gavi's future of course comes with the midfielder expected to play a central role for Xavi Hernandez's troops once more this weekend.

Fresh off a return to winning ways at the expense of Mallorca last time out, Barcelona will make the trip to the Estadio Benito Villamarin on Saturday night, for a La Liga showdown with Real Betis.

The Blaugrana head into the clash sitting 2nd in the Spanish top-flight, albeit a full 15 points adrift of arch-rivals Real Madrid, officially crowned as champions last weekend.
